*A Simple Home Bubble Recipe.
Makes 1050 ml of bubble juice.

Ingredients
  • 50 mls Washing up liquid, EarthWise is great if you want to keep it Eco As! Fairy Liquid from the UK/Ireland, Dawn from the US, Charmy from Japan (Johnson and Johnson’s Original Baby bath also works if you can’t source the above in NZ) for the mega strong ones.
  • 1.5 gms Guar Gum - I prefer Ceres Organic in NZ
  • 2 gms Baking Soda or Sodium Bicarbonate
  • 1 Litre Water - Hand hot is best

  1. Mix the Guar Gum and Baking Soda with the detergent until completely mixed.
  2. Slowly add the above mix to the water.
  3. Let stand for at least 2 hours- best after 48 hours.

Add more water when it’s very dry weather, less when it’s humid.

Makes 11.5 litres of Bubble Juice

  • 500ml vegetable glycerine
  • 6 level teaspoons Guar Gum
  • 1.5 level teaspoons of Jlube or an alternative PEO
  • 5 level teaspoons of Baking Soda
  • 1.5 litres detergent - as above
  • 10 litres hand-hot water
 
  1. Mix the Guar Gum, PEO, Baking Soda and Glycerine together until a slurry.
  2. Stir the slurry into the detergent.
  3. Pour the detergent slowly into the water, ensure that the mix doesn't settle to the bottom.
  4. Let stand for a few hours and stir again.
  5. Best after 48 hours
